New Hours of Operation at Seattle Center Monorail

Seattle Center Monorail is offering new, commuter-friendly hours of operation with 7:30 AM start time on weekdays and service until 11:00 PM daily.

The new hours of operation will be: Monday-Friday 7:30 AM to 11:00 PM, Saturday-Sunday 8:30 AM to 11:00 PM.

This change in schedule has been made to help better serve commuters by providing a transportation solution between downtown Seattle and Lower Queen Anne.

The Monorail runs between downtown’s Westlake Center Mall (5th Avenue and Pine Street) and Seattle Center (adjacent to the Space Needle). The train departs approximately every 10 minutes and the trip between downtown and Seattle Center takes 2 minutes; it’s the fastest way to travel between downtown and Seattle Center.

Monthly Monorail passes are available for purchase at Monorail ticketing booths on the platforms: $40 for an adult monthly pass and $20 for a reduced-rate monthly pass (seniors 65+, disabled, or persons with Medicare card).

Roundtrip fares are $4 for adults, $2 for seniors (65+), disabled, or persons with Medicare card, $1.50 for youths (ages 5-12), and free for children 4 and under. One-way fares are half of what a roundtrip fare costs. Cash or check only – ORCA card not accepted.

The Monorail carries approximately 1.8 million riders each year. It was built for the 1962 Seattle World’s Fair and celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2012.

The Concierge Guild was treated to a wonderful evening on Tuesday night by Elysian Fields Brewery in Pioneer Square. The General Manager, Tyler Pascoe made us feel welcomed in his private dining area equipped with a salt water aquarium. Executive Chef, Jonathan Knowles cooked up an amazing buffet that had us smiling ear to ear. Elysian Fields Brewery his one of the many beautiful historic buildings in Pioneer Square. With two private rooms; one that is perfect for social gatherings up to 25 people and the other for meetings up to 35 people. Both equipped with AV equipment. The kitchen is considered a "Scratch Kitchen" because almost everything on their menu is created in-house. They even butcher their own fish and meat! Coming in June they will be celebrating their 15th anniversary in Seattle where 15 of their beers will be on tap! In fact, you get to pick the beers! Next time you're in any of the three locations ask for the 15th Anniversary list of beers and choose your favorite ones. In June they will tally up the votes, the ones with the most votes will be on tap. In addition to being an amazing place for tourist and special events, The Elysian Fields Brewery is trying to connect with locals. The wines were created by TASTE General Director, Danielle Custer, in collaboration with Townshend Cellar to commemorate the opening of the Olympic Sculpture Park in 2007.

The red is a Super Tuscan style blend of mostly sangiovese. The white is an aromatic and refreshing blend of sauvignon blanc and viognier.

TASTE Wine Program – A Little About What We Do

Here at TASTE Restaurant a lot of hard work went into creating our wine program when we first opened our doors in May 2007. Our hard work continues today to create the best wine program we think possible. Here’s a little bit more about what we offer

•A 100% Northwest wine list with value oriented pricing
◦Wines by the bottle are a third less than the markup at most restaurants
■From the beginning this was our mission when creating our wine list. We would rather have you try two great bottles of wine vs. only being able to purchase a bottle. We want you to explore what we have to offer.
■There are four ways to consume our wines. By the bottle and glass, TASTING portions, six red and white wines are available in tasting sized portions, and Messo, wine available in a half liter carafe.

◦Sixty handpicked wines
■We focus on small family-run, unique wineries and varietals.

•Our wine list is organized by flavor profile
◦Our layout was created for ease of use. All our wines are listed in categoris and by varietals to aid in food and wine pairing.

•We offer wines blended just for us
◦Masterpiece Red and Masterpiece White were created by TASTE’s Director, Danielle Custer, in collaboration with Don Townshend of Townhend Cellar to commemorate the opening of the Olympic Sculpture Park in 2007. The red is a super Tuscan syle blend of mostly sangiovese. The white is an aromatic and refreshing blend of sauvignon blanc and viognier.
◦Masterpiece Red and Masterpiece White are available for retail purchase at $35/$27 per bottle (50% off our list price). ALL our current wines are available for retail purchase at 25% off our value priced wine list.

•Behind the Scenes of special events and dinners (Splash!, TASTE of the Northwest and Flight & Bites)
◦TASTE has a unique way of developing the pairings for each special event dinner. The TASTE team sits down with the selected wine for a winemaker dinner at a table full of raw ingredients and tastes each wine, noting the aromas, flavors, complexities and nuances. Then as a group they discuss potential pairings and taste raw ingredients according to how the wine speaks to them. The result is the first-round of dishes based on the flavors discussed during the tasting.
◦TASTE designed the dinners to be not only intimate, interactive and approachable, but affordable as well. The dinners are almost always under $90 per person.

Save the date! Our Neighborhood Wine Tasting will be taking place on Friday, January 7th. Come by anytime between 5-6:30pm as we featuring one of our favorite NW Wineries, Gilbert Cellars! For a $10 tasting fee, our guests will receive 2 glasses of wine, detailed information and discussions on the wines tasted, a small savory bite from TASTE Restaurant after each flight as well as a sweet bite upon leaving the tasting.

Hello everybody! Welcome to tidbit’s December newsletter where we bring you the freshest and latest news from tidbit.

We are at the end of 2010, a year that has been very memorable for us. A lot of events have happened at tidbit this year: from facing the difficult decision to move to a new location to the decision of adding lunch and expanding our hours of operations. We’ve had a lot of special events and memorable parties including a special lunch with Judi Francini (@divinacucina) that we met on twitter, many rehearsal dinners, special lunches and brunches. We were also mentioned on the first page of the Seattle Times for our usage of social media. We are coming out stronger, with many new good friends, and big hopes for the New Year.

As we do at the end of every year, we would like to take a minute and thank you all for the time we’ve spent together and for your continuous support during the last twelve months. We are still here thanks to you!

Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve dinner!

We are very excited about spending our first Christmas and New Year’s Eves in our new location. This year we will be regularly open on Friday December 24^th. Please, keep us in mind if you are looking for a warm and friendly place for that night!

For New Year’s Eve, we are planning a very special dinner. Call us for reservations for our Cenone di Fine d’Anno, Euro stylke New Year’s Eve Dinner, at 206-323-0840. This year we will be having a delicious 5 course meal to choose from in addition to our regular menu with a fantastic wine pairing!

If you are thinking of a special place for your holiday party, remember that tidbit is available! You can reserve large tables for up to 20 people or the full bar for up to 20 people with possibly just a few hours notice; you can also reserve the full restaurant for parties up to 60. The brilliant Guys & Dolls (plays May 11-June 5, 2011) combines the swinging music of Frank Loesser with Damon Runyon’s hilarious stories of the denizens of New York’s underworld, including fast-talking Nathan Detroit, his sexy and long-suffering girlfriend Miss Adelaide, the cool and clever gambler Sky Masterson, and the unlikely visitor Sarah Brown, an inner-city missionary unexpectedly swept off her feet by Sky. Italian Cinema Festival

The New Italian Cinema Festival will be returning to SIFF Cinema for a second year this November 16-20. The Festival kicks off with the thriller The Double Hour on Tuesday evening and ends with the provocative comedy Happy Family on Saturday night. Christ Our Hope Roman Catholic Church opened in August of 2010 in the first floor of the historic and newly restored New Washington Hotel / Josephinum. Located at 2nd and Stewart, Christ our Hope is in the heart of downtown; just a block from the shopping district and a block from the Pike Place Market. The New Washington Hotel / Josephinum was built in 1907 and hosted 5 presidents, Babe Ruth and Elvis Presley among other prominent guests. Residents of the Archdiocesan Housing Authority share the street entrance on Second Avenue and reside in the upper floors. The worship space is located on the first floor, directly off the main lobby and was originally the grand ballroom and dining area for the hotel.

Here are some exciting things to know about Tidbit Bistro...

On Monday the Concierge Guild of Seattle enjoyed a couple hours at the new location of the Italian Cuisine Bistro on Capitol Hill “Tidbit Bistro.” It’s called the Tidbit Bistro because there is both a Spanish and Italian flare. The Happy Hour is something to talk to all of your guest and clients about when they are looking for a drink or appetizer while enjoying different areas of Seattle.

Happy Hour is Sunday – Friday from 5:00-6:30pm. Each day provides a different Happy Hour menu. Prices range from $3-$4 in beer/wine and $2-$5 in appetizers. If your guest missed the Happy Hour, Tidbit provides an affordable Italian/Spanish menu ranging in prices of $4-$18.

Tidbit is at 1401 Broadway Street close to two popular and music venues Neumos and Chop Suey as well as Garage Bowling.

Fremont Oktoberfest - This Weekend!

Fremont's hopping in September!
Now, almost two hundred years after the start of the event in Germany, Fremont carries on the tradition with a colorful micro-brew festival that is Seattle's only weekend Oktoberfest celebration. The event spans a Friday, Saturday and Sunday in late September. It features more than twenty-five micro-breweries, non-stop music with our favorite local bands, a street fair, traditional German food, a variety of acts and zany contests in keeping with the offbeat Fremont tradition.

Due to lack of refrigeration, in old Germany, the brewing season began with the fall harvest of barley and hops and continued through the cold months of the year. The last brewing happened in March. Any beer left at harvest time had to be consumed before the new beer arrived. At least that was the official line. The last Saturday of September through the first Sunday of October was designated as the time to drink-up all of last season's beer. It officially became Oktoberfest in 1810, when Crown Prince Ludwig declared a 10-day celebration in honor of his betrothal to Princess Theresa of Bavaria. Since most of us have to work on Monday and cannot party for 16 days, we invite you to experience how the Fremont Oktoberfest squeezes 16 days into one unbelievable weekend.

What would an Oktoberfest be without a gala festival street fair, full of amazing craftsmen, colorful world imports and irresistible flea market treasures from across the land? We recently moved into our new location and are getting comfortable in our new digs. We are now on the corner of Union and Broadway, one block south of Pike. We have 90 minute validated parking in the underground garage (entrance is in the middle of the block on Broadway).

Our Experience with... WANN

What a wonderful time we had at WANN Izakaya. The service was amazing, the sushi was unique and the sake was delightful! A soothing and relaxing place to recommend to guest that are wanting a great deal on Happy Hour. Draft beers are $3.00 and Saki and Wines are $4.00. All sushi is 20 – 50 % off. Mondays and Tuesday Happy Hour is all day and every other day is 4:00pm-7:00pm.

Beautiful atmosphere in Belltown, with family style servings makes for great conversation. If you have a party of 20 or less let them know they can have their own private room if they reserve in advance. They do not have to meet a minimum and are more than welcome to order off the happy hour menu. WANN Izakaya is a must see for guest enjoying the restaurants of Seattle!

Seattle Symphony’s Beethoven & Wine Festival

Tara's Experience with Flying Fish!

Wow, Flying Fish was a treat! The owner/Executive Chef, Christine Keff treated the Concierge Guild Of Seattle to some amazing food in their large party area in the back of the restaurant. One wall was all windows that looked out onto the quaint street of Westlake. Our Guild was invited for a Dinner Invitation to check out their new location!

We dined on Crab Legs, Rock Fish, Beet Endive Salad, Sea Scallops, and Brownies. The Somalia, Nathan Barker kept the wine flowing. A wonderful place to recommend to guest that are wanting a nice lunch or dinner.

Chef Christine Keff comes to the table to introduce herself as well as get a feel for what the guests are looking for in their meal. From their answers, she goes into the kitchen and makes them a 5 course meal. The pricing for this is $65.00 per person. If guests want to have a wine pairing included with the food courses, Nathan Barker will be there with the wine flowing and it’s just an additional $25.00.

For guests that are looking for event space, Flying Fish, can cater to a maximum of 40 people. They have a food and beverage minimum of $850.00. They offer a three course dinner for guests at $37.50 per dish. Another amazing idea that Flying Fish has implemented is their Chef Table seating which happens on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. For a group of 8-10 they can seat you at their Chef Table right next to the kitchen.

Lots of natural light floods this restaurant and the bar has a bright modern look to it. If a group of four is wanting a light snack, I highly recommend the Rock Fish to share. I guarantee they will come back smiling ear to ear!

Our Experience with Blueacre Seafood!

From the moment we walked into our monthly meeting, we knew that our Guild was in for a treat! Not only Blueacre Seafood came in with elegance and class, but also they had a buffet section inside The Marlin Room, one of the three banquet facilities, where we had our CGS July Meeting.

Serving some of their delicious seafood tastings are: Crispy Eureka Little Smelt, Jumbo Lump Dungeness Crabcakes, and Oysters Casbarian.

With the help of their Private Event Coordinator, Lizette Dillard, along with the owners of Blueacre Seafood, Chef Kevin and Teresa Davis, this meeting was more than what we expected. Some of the highlights of the evening was learning about how Blueacre became "Blueacre."

Chef Kevin and Teresa Davis, who owns Steelhead Diner as well, loved the space so much that they decided to take over what used to be Oceanaire and transformed into Blueacre Seafood. His inspiration was the butterfly, changes and new beginnings ...and it sure was!

Blueacre Seafood is a family owned Seafood Restaurant and you can tell the difference. They care and take things seriously to better serve you. Best of all, they have an affordable seafood menu! They also have Brunch available every Saturday and Sunday from 11a.m. to 3p.m! If you're in for some savings, this is the place to be! On Tuesday, July 13th, The Concierge Guild of Seattle met at the Ventana Restaurant in Belltown. The restaurant had wonderful natural light with a view of the Puget Sound. Joseph Conrad, Executive Chef, provided us with Truffle salt popcorn, edamame, sushi and prawns for light appetizers. I went back for seconds to enjoy more of that Truffle salt popcorn.

I really enjoyed the Ventana Restaurant. I found their menu to be eclectic as well as supporting local sustainable food. Their drink menu had a variety of funky cocktails that would be fun for guests to try during a Happy Hour or Dinner. The one thing that really sold me on Ventana Restaurant was their Sunday Supper Special. Every Sunday from 6:00 – 9:00 pm a guest can receive a 3 course meal for $25.00. You can receive a wine pairing with your meal for an additional $15.00. All together $40.00! What a great deal!

Ventana Restaurant is located right next to “Twist” in Belltown. In fact, it’s the same owner. I recommend letting clients, residents, and guests know about this place. They are just starting off and could use support from the Concierge Guild. Looking forward to seeing what El Gaucho has to offer on Thursday!

A New Outdoor Market Launches in Pioneer Square
The SEATTLE SQUARE to feature locally designed apparel, vintage goods,
mobile food, and headliner DJ’s

Kicking off on Saturday, July 17th, Pioneer Square will feature a new outdoor market from 11am – 5pm every Saturday for the rest of the summer. What once sat empty and overlooked will soon be filled with local designers, mobile food vendors, public art and music.

The Seattle Square will feature a mix of Downtown restaurants like Delicatus, with mobile food vendors including Skillet, Ram & Rooster Dumplings and Parfait Organic Ice Cream--to name a few! The market will also host a wide range of vintage and craft vendors; selling everything from locally designed clothing, to handmade housewares and accessories, to mid-century modern furniture. To top it off, local and national DJ's will be providing a soulful, upbeat soundtrack each afternoon in the park.

The Seattle Square was conceived in response to the recent departure of Elliott Bay Books. "People thought we were crazy to want to try this new market in Pioneer Square once Elliott Bay announced they were leaving, but this is precisely the reason for doing it," said Seattle Square Co-Founder Don Blakeney. "Neighborhoods from West Seattle to Ballard have perfected the farmer's market--but few markets bring together the vintage, craft, and mobile food--and set it to music." Blakeney, a Seattle native, recently returned from New York City where he orchestrated a series of pop-up stores to activate the vacant storefronts in Times Square.

"The Pioneer Square neighborhood is perfect for a market like this," said Jennifer Kelly, Co-Founder of the Seattle Square. "There is a real sense of community here--and a lot of great people who are working hard to make this market a success and to reinvigorate the neighborhood in the process." Kelly moved to Pioneer Square last summer and writes the New Pioneer Square Blog. Both Kelly and Blakeney saw the popularity of outdoor markets and events like the Brooklyn Flea, MoMA's PS1 and Seattle's Mobile Chowdown, and wanted to bring them together to activate Occidental Square.

Local artists will also be transforming Occidental Park throughout the summer as a part of the Artsparks program put together by 4Culture and Seattle Parks and Recreation. Shoppers will be able to walk through a maze of art installations as they enjoy the food, music, and market. Local DJ's will compete in a weekly Battle of the Mega-Mixes--the winner of which will get a headlining slot at a local nightclub later this summer.

"The creative energy behind the Seattle Square is thrilling," said Todd Vogel, owner of the Nord Building. "The organizers have combined Pioneer’s Square’s artsy vibe and Occidental Park’s beauty to create an event for everyone. I can’t wait to go!" Vogel is the Director of the International Sustainability Institute, a group that forges public and private partnerships to promote public space and urban sustainability. He is also hosting a series of World Cup watching parties in Nord Alley across from Occidental Park through the finals in July.

Ideally located on top of every form transportation in the city, Pioneer Square offers a perfect town center atmosphere that is accessible to all. In addition to comprehensive rail and bus access, the Seattle Square has partnered with Diamond Parking and the Merrill Place Garage to provide complementary parking for all Seattle Square shoppers each Saturday.

You can really relive the days of the 1890’s Gold Rush when fortune seekers journeyed from Seattle to the Yukon Territory and paddle wheelers plied the waters of Alaska’s Yukon River. Blending the past and present, your two-hour adventure aboard the largest steam powered paddle wheeler west of the Mississippi will include fun and historical information about this period in Seattle’s history including a “LIVE KLONDIKE CABARET SHOW”. The "Manly Man" CGS Meeting

I personally would call this the "Manly Man" CGS Meeting because we gathered so many information from stuff like: beer, constructions, and auto detailing.

Opening our CGS June Meeting started with Magnolia Davidson, Metropolitan Tower, introducing The Pike Pub Brewery Restaurant. For most of you who didn't know, The Pike Pub Brewery Company is a family owned restaurant. Owners Charles and Rose Ann Finkel helped catalyze the craft-beer movement in the late 1970s, and they've still got the passion. Their friendly, rambling pub, located in the lower levels of the market, attracts beer geeks of both the local and tourist species. Also known as the "The Pike Pub" is a gravity fed micro-brewery with world class beer and sustainable pub fare. The Pike Pub is the showcase for the brewing company. Each ale - Naughty Nellie, Pike Pale, IPA, Kilt Lifter, Tandem, Monk's Uncle, & XXXXX Stout, is served properly in a working brewery. Local, seasonal, delicious pub fare includes fresh mussels & clams, hand crafted bratwurst with Chef Gary's WA State apple sauerkraut, artisan cheese, smoked salmon, local wines, beer to go, and gifts.

Not only we had our meeting in their private room, most of the Concierge who were able to attend, got the chance to do a tour and meet the owners! We were served with great dinner and a drink ticket with any choice of beer. Tara Shuttleworth, who is their main Event Coordinator/Concierge, gave us packets of what The Pike Pub has to offer, including Happy Hour --Mon-Fri 4-6 pm ($3.50 beers, $11.50 pitchers, appetizers half off), and some of their upcoming newsletter and events. We were also informed by Michelle Rasnic, President of CGS, that Tara Shuttleworth is now part of our Guild! Please welcome our new member Tara to join our awesome team!

After learning about The Pike Pub, Magnolia introduced us to Eric Blaser and Aaron Reynolds of Charter Construction, educating us about their High-End Residential Services, constructing the best design for your living room to bedroom. On July 14th the French celebrate Bastille Day. This day marks the end of monarchy and the beginning of the French Revolution. For the French, the day is the "Fête Nationale" and is not only a national holiday, but a day of community celebration.

Our Seattle menus use many regional sources, including Penn Cove and other local shellfish, local artisan bread, local Washington potatoes, field berries, stone fruit, locally foraged mushrooms and more. Sullivan's Steakhouse offers Midwestern, corn-fed, U.S.D.A. high-choice beef aged a minimum of 30 days. Market Ghost Tour

Did you know there were ghosts in Seattle? A lot of ghosts? Many of them are in the old Pike Place Market and you can learn all about them on the Market Ghost Tour. I recently took the tour on a Friday night and had a great time! Despite being a Seattle native I learned facts about the Market and Seattle that I never knew. Do you know why part of it is called the “Sanitary Market?” I do. Everyone on my tour was a local and many of us saw parts of the market we had never seen before.

Our Experience With Sullivan's Steakhouse!

On Tuesday, June 15th, our Guild Members were invited for a sneak peek at Sullivan's Steakhouse. Our night began with specialty martinis at the bar. Along with me were Katy Reilly, Stephanie Model, and Kaarin Keil. We were able to try their Mango Tango drink which was to die for if you have cravings for sweet and sour taste. The room we were in was very open, yet very sophisticated hall. I was immediately introduced to Lori Carchedi, Sullivan's Steakhouse Private Event Coordinator. I was greeted with such a warm and friendly welcome. She then introduced me to the General Manager of Sullivan's Steakhouse, Schuyler Adams, who is very thrilled to have us in their Restaurant.

I was pretty much overwhelmed with excitement soon as I heard we were ready to be seated. Our Guild Members were invited to the their Private Room, which Lori explained that there are two private rooms. The Theatre Room with maximum of 48 and The Union Square Symphony Room of 65. I happened to learn that we were seated in Theatre Room which is equipt with a drop down screen and ceiling mount LCD Projector. The room which overlooks the hustle and bustle of Union Street and The Act Theatre had shades for elegant privacy from the outside street.

As soon as we were seated, our waitress present us with menus and specials for the evening. From what I remember, I ordered Wedge of Iceberg Lettuce for Salad and New York Strip (16oz) with Horseradish Mashed Potatoes and Skillet Steak Mushroom Caps for sides and entree. As I took a bite of their delicious well done Steak, I felt like I was in heaven. We were served with fine wine and beverages throughout the night. They even offered us Appetizers of Oysters in The Half Shell, which was a delightful treat. We finished the night with a tasty coconut creme pie and coffee!

Later in the evening, I met up with Sara Latter, Wilson PR, who helped organized this event with us. I was able to meet their fantastic team. Sara even introduced me to Chris Rockwood, Regional Manager of Sullivan's Steakhouse!
I couldn't ask for more. The service was superb and would definitely come back!

I highly recommend you try Sullivan's Steakhouse for yourself! Celebrate and join them for their Opening Night on Saturday, June 19th! Feel free to mention this great venue to your clients, residents, and guest!
