Summer Begins with ArtXchange

Continuing through June 26 - Future’s Past: The Black Ships

Using graffiti techniques (spray-paint and stencils), Jonathan Wakuda Fischer references both modern and ancient Japanese aesthetics such as ukiyo-e woodblock prints and the contemporary superflat movement. The paintings in Future’s Past tell visual stories based on folklore, anime, science fiction, and Japanese history. Between Future’s Past and the lovely Fleeting Beauty exhibit at SAAM, June is the perfect time for Seattle visitors to immerse themselves in the arts of Japan.

Also happening in June!

Our small art object and fine craft section, the North Gallery, will feature ceramicist Adrien Miller and his ‘Funktional’ home and tableware that is meant to exude an aura of happiness and contentment.

July and August in the Main Gallery

Inspired by craggy precipices, rolling mists, and the lush foliage of mountainous Northwest Vietnam, Donald Cole presents a series of Mountain Visions. In his 80th year, Mr. Cole shows no signs of slowing down as he travels the world and distills his vision into captivating paintings. His remarkable career, which began in New York City (his hometown), has spanned multiple countries and five decades. Cole’s Mountain Visions come to life in layered acrylic paintings on canvas, torn paper, and tiny ink drawings on matchboxes.

We hope that by now you have met or emailed our gallery/concierge liaison, Mugoux, who is your contact for information about ArtXchange Gallery, the Florentine Block, and the inside scoop on the art scene in Pioneer Square.

You can reach Mugoux at 206.839.0377 or by emailing mugoux@artxchange.org

CANDIDE at 5th Avenue

Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre continues their love and celebration of Leonard Bernstein with is seldom produced "Candide".

Based on the work of Voltaire, Candide follows our young title character (played by Stanley Bahorek) as he travels the world in search of hope, happiness and his one true love Cunegonde (Laura Griffith).

With a perfect staging, soaring voices, hysterical and touching performances and of course that brilliant Bernstein score, the 5th Avenue has definitely turned this diamond in the rough into the sparkling gem it was always meant to be and has proved that this production truly is the best of all possible worlds. We hope you RSVP'd for the Concierge Event on Friday, May 28th at 7:30pm for a sneak peak of this brilliant show!
Best,

Delightful Treat from Branzino

On Tuesday, May 25th, 2010, Kelly Tallariti, Chef Concierge of 1521 hosted a fantastic event at Branzino. He brought along Active Building (which offers a great resident portal for your property) and Seattle International Film Festival "SIFF" (who appeared last year at our Urbane Meeting and once again back to share more details about the festival).

Best of all, Kelly brought back Peter Lamb and Michael Don Rico, both Branzino's owners and long-time Seattle Restuaranteurs! Peter shared such a delightful treat to our members, gave us the chance to taste such exquisite italian/northwest cuisine. When they said, "menu sample", I didn't expect a full-course meal!

As you may all know, Branzino is Seattle neighborhood restuarant with Italian influences. Pasta, pizza, cheeses, breads, cured meats are made by hand in-house each day! An affordable global wine list with an emphasis on Italy and Northwest, an attractive and attentive staff, a warm well lit space are features of Branzino's personal experience.

Thank you Peter and Michael for sharing us what Branzino has to offer! We'll definitely let others know what they're missing!

EverGreen Escapes Retreat at Mt. Rainier

Here to share to you our experience with EverGreen Escapes at Mt. Rainier!

It was a cloudy morning at seven thirty a.m. and the twelve of us went in for an unexpected adventure, already to go in a bio-fueled Mercedes vans with both naturalist escapist artist Dan Salvatora and Matt Schoenwald. Our first stop was at a nice boutique coffee house called Scrumptious Deli and Cafe in Eatonville, WA. From there we were served with lemon poppy seed bread, apple slices, and fresh hot tea.

The ride to Mt. Rainier was very relaxing, the escapist lead knew so much information about nature and even shared his experiences about the location. You can tell they are very passionate about what they do. They even personalize your itinerary that is tailored to your specific needs. I learned so much how eco-friendly they really are, everything was reusable from stainless steel graphite water bottles to plastic wine glasses.

By the time we got to Mt. Rainier, the escapist brought out a bin full of snow shoe gear, didn't expect that we were going for a snow shoe hike! And in case you weren't prepared to go for a snowshoe like my friend, Albert, EverGreen Escapes got you covered. They provide us with extra waterproof clothing, gloves, hats, and jackets. Our snow shoe hike on Mt. Rainier was the highlight of this trip!

After we went for our fun hike in the snow, we had our "On Safari" picnic lunch inside the Paradise Visitor Center. They filled our stomach with salad, cous cous, chicken, and desserts. They even served us beverages and wine! It was nothing but pure satisfaction.

After our wonderful lunch, they gave us a sightseeing tour of Christine Falls in Mt. Rainier and Twin Firs Loop Trail. Each of us enjoyed the scenery, walked around and even took some snap shots.

Michelle Rasnic, President of Concierge Guild Of Seattle said, "I am very impressed with EverGreen Escapes!"

Yes, we are all very impressed! I never experience such a great adventure. It was full of relaxation and lots of activity. This will sure be memorable trip! I encourage you to try it out for yourself and share it to your clients, residents, and guest! I'll be sure to come back for another tour with EverGreen Escapes! Thank you Jake H, Dan M, Dan S, and Matt S. for making this a wonderful trip for our guild members!

Best,

Blueacre Seafood Announces :

Simpler, Faster Lunch Menu
(Seattle, WA)— Lingering over the menu and slowly savoring each bite of the meal is an ideal way to enjoy Blueacre Seafood. There are times, however, when lingering just isn’t possible. This is especially true for Blueacre’s weekday crowds who may need to enjoy their lunch and get back to work.

Chef Kevin Davis has taken his all-day menu and created a bonafide lunch menu for weekday lunches. “We’ve modified the menu and are offering smaller portions of the same high quality food we offer at all times,” says Davis. The result is a simpler and faster Blueacre experience. Sandwiches range from $9.95-12.95, fish fare from $14.95-18.95 and appetizers/small plates from $9.95-14.95. Nothing on the lunch menu is over $20.

Weekend brunches are also gearing up at Blueacre and are the perfect way to wind down from the work week or refuel during your weekend shopping expedition. Relax with a cocktail or gear up with an espresso while deciding between oysters from the fresh oyster bar, shrimp and grits, poached eggs with blue crab or Rainer battered fish and chips. Blueacre’s bright, open atmosphere offers the perfect midday break and ideal brunch location.

Head to Blueacre, downtown Seattle’s most exciting seafood destination!
